David Tennant is to travel back in time - by appearing on BBC genealogy series Who Do You Think You Are.

The Doctor Who actor will research his family tree for the show, which has previously featured celebrities including Jeremy Paxman, Stephen Fry and Ian Hislop.

A BBC spokesman confirmed, "David will be appearing. The series is likely to go out in the autumn."
