griffith Saturday, 23 January 2010
richard griffiths Llanengan (Revised Dec 09) I am researching for a book, on the shipwreck of the SS Mohegan - 1898 Cornwall. I am interested in the ancestors of Capt. Richard Griffiths, born approx. 1852 in Llanengan, Merionethshire. A report in the Caernarfon and Denbeigh Herald, 29th October 1898, announcing his death was as follows: "Son of the late Hugh Griffiths, Creigiruchaf, brother of Griffith Griffiths the present occupier, and to Miss Griffiths who resides at Devonald Street, Holyhead. Captain Griffiths whose home is at Leytonstone, Essex , left a widow and three children." I have since discovered his mother was named Mary, and his 3 sisters were Catherine, Mary, and Margaret. I urgently need to find out details of his supposed finding 3 months after the disaster, his body in Caernarfon Bay, and the fate of his wife and children. Hope someone can help me. Thanks.
