Customs Officer promoted from Ireland to Maryport in Cumbria around 1836 do not know his birth date or where born. He was then promoted to Controller Of Customs for the Forth Estuarybased in Borrowstounness (Bo'ness) on Forth in1843.Married to Ann Bates Two children born in Ireland in 1833 and 1835, 4 other children born in Maryport and a further 2 in Bo'ness. John and Ann died within months of each other in 1847 We are trying to trace where he came from in Ireland have been told it is possible his father may have been a Customs Officer also
