Hugh Richard Newell was born in Presteigne in 1764, had two sons born by Elizabeth (surname unknown), John and Hugh, born in 1802 and 1804, but Elizabeth died in 1806 and, in the following year, Hugh married another local girl, Grace Taylor, born 1764. Between 1808 and 1816, one son (Edward Taylor) and four daughters were born of this marriage. The third daughter, Maria, was born c. 1813, the youngest, Ellen, was baptized in 1816 in Welshpool. Information from the Judge’s Lodging says that Edward was the only surviving son at the time of his father’s death. I am trying to find who Hugh's father was: I believe it may be Hugh, and that his father may have been either Richard, Wlliam or Robert, born in Newtown or Welshpool. I'd be very grateful for any information.
