On the 1st of August 1902. my grandmother Maria jones signed an agreement between herselfe & Evan Evans Bevans Brewery in the "Vale of Neath".the agreement contains the terms and conditions for the license of "The Eaglesbussh Inn,Melyncrythan,Neath,county of Glamorgan. her 1st husband Samuel Jones was with her at this time,she later married my grandfather Frank Walker(who,served in the Boer war) i know very little of them before or after this date,but i do have the rent book and brewery prices for the time Maria became the landlady of the "Eaglesbush inn"when she married my granfather they lived at Dan-y-Graig road,neath,then moved to 40,lewis road,neath,where they had 4 childen,my father vernon nicholas,brothers fred & Eprus(named after the battle of eprus),2 sisters Marion &Josephine & a halfe sister Lillian,the child by the 1st marriage to Samuel Jones.thhey lived there for 40yrs.and died at this address40,lewis road.neath,wish i knew more about them,but they died soon after my birth in 1949.thanks,much appreciated,Mrs,Gillian Palmer,nee Walker |
