Ditcham Wednesday, 13 October 2010
John Ditcham1783 son of Robert Ditcham B.1741 Robert was son of John Ditcham B.1812 and this John was son of Thomas Detcham (sik). John born 1783 married Anne Bartrim in Ludham 1807.(Have printout of marriage) Then regarding Child John. Tales state that John born 1783 went to war and Military was slack in paying allowance, because John took his mates place, (surname was Newman) and Parish tried to recoup the money, and letter stated she had a child under 10, in 1810. Anne Ditcham was in Neatshead, foundtwin Ditcham girles adopted out in 1817. Not found John Ditcham, b.1783 since. John Ditcham (death certificate dated 1887 NSW) stated John Ditcham and Mary Ann from Norfolk were his parents, and John was born 1808. Proof of John Ditcham's existance, not Birth? are all over Victoria and Sydney, where he died. Sarah Mason is noted under FamilySearch.org. married a John Ditcham in 1831(.Norfolk marriage) Proof of him being in the 96th at foot regiment, and it is reported that he arrived in Sydney in 1940 on the Woodbridge Ship and then on to Norfolk Island, as he was a Military Guard on the ship. Jessica Augusta 3 sailed to Norfolk Island with the Criminals. He is on the Wages list of the 96th regiment of foot as John Ditcham, hospitalised and then. John was absent for a year, believed to have gonet home to England, to bring out his wife and Elizabeth Ditchman and a child called Mary. Sarah Died in Australia, (unable to find Death Cert.) and John married a Famine Orpahin Sarah Doyle from the Earl Grey ships had arived in Australia with a lot of Famine people from Ireland.) Marriage took place in 1853 and proof of thier children, have been found and followed through to present day.2010. Wanted proof of John Ditcham and proof of Parents are wanted, as stories of the line being " born on the wrong side ofo the bed" I have been searching for proof for years, and still unable to find John Ditcham actually existed in England, and he was married to Sarah Mason. I am 70 years of age, and only want to find this man in England. I have been told a John Ditcham and Sarah married in St.Michael of Thorne Norfolk, however was bombed down and so nothing in existance. However I feel he existed here, and there must be some proof of him their. Confusion with Ditcham and Ditchman. Cannot even find a suitable name, when The line thought Ditcham was their correct name, back in 16 or 17th Century. Thank you PatriciaG_D Member of Ancestry.
