mortimer Thursday, 11 March 2010
emma mortimer born 1888 in croydon surrey uk. was a domestic when she first went to canada in 1918. she went again in the 1920's and finally retuened in 1928 as a returned canadian.she was housekeeper to a MR EDWARDS IN BROADVIEW ,sask canada(was said to be a cousin) we had no cousins of that name ,presumably a cousin of the people she was a housekeeper before in montmatre) i have no info of her after 1928. so the story goes she got married(not in uk) and her husband was a miser and wouldn't pay for her to come home for her mothers funeral in 1937.so any info on emma mortimer born 1988. she was about 40-42 in 1928 as she lied about her age.emma had a brother john hamilton mortimer born 1896 and a sister frances who died at 21 with epilepsy born 1898.j.h.m was my grandfather.my aunt remembers her dad writing to aunt emma in the 1940's-1950's. so emma was still alive up till my grandfather died in 1955. EMMA MARION MORTIMER born 1888
